Westfield Art Association Presents duCret Instructors:

Sunday, April 21: “Fantasy Art / Comic Character Creation” demonstration by Mark Romanoski [1:00 – 4:00 PM, Community Room, Westfield Municipal Building, 425 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ 07090]. Sunday, May 5: “Tunisian Collaborative Painting” at Westfield’s 19th Annual SpringFling sponsored by the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce. 10 AM – 5 PM, rain or shine. Streets of Downtown Westfield, NJ [exact location to be determined]. The group painting[s] will be initiated by Westfield’s own Ricardo Roig whose “Westfield Series” screen prints [available at Evalyn Dunn Gallery] have already brought him considerable regional fame. Artists wishing to participate in the group creation of at least one painting are asked to send an e-mail to info@westfieldartassociation.org using “Tunisian Collaborative Painting” as the subject line for the message, or to call Paul Deroo at 908-337-2535. Sunday, May 19: “Oil Portrait Painting” demonstration by Richard Scarpa [1:00 – 4:00 PM, Community Room, Westfield Municipal Building, 425 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ 07090]. CHILD & TEEN WORKSHOPS

Winter - Spring Semester Art Workshops are a wonderful time to introduce children and teens to the world of art.   Workshops for both children (6 - 10 yrs) and teens (11 - 15yrs) commence in two six week sessions (Winter sessions are over, see Spring schedule dates below).

This workshop opens young children to the wonderful world of art by introducing them to several art mediums such as drawing and painting in charcoal, water color, tempura paint, marker, pastel and modeling in clay. It teaches them the basics of color application for each medium, as well as develops eye-hand coordination via cartooning, animal art and Earth-friendly subject matter.

Students begin the process of learning advanced techniques and skills in color theory, developing eye-hand coordination with 3D models, photographic quality duplication skills, and application differences between the various paint mediums. Mediums can be graphite pencil, charcoal, pastel, oil pastels, oil, water color, acrylic, mixed media or sculpture.This year's focus is on ceramics and watercolor techniques.

SUMMER AT duCRET

Summertime at duCret is a great way for families to learn and have fun together. Not only are there over 30 varied adult workshops to chose from, there is an art camp for children and one for teens. Adults (16+ ys) can take mini and introductory workshops in oil, acrylic, water color, ceramics, charcoal, pastel, jewelry making, airbrushing, stained glass, photography, and graphic design.
